Some Personal Stuff
I still don’t really know what I want to be when I grow up.
I’m 34 years old. I have a beautiful 2.5 year old daughter, a loving husband, a senior cat, and a bad (but loving) dog. I love to take pictures.
I mentioned in my home page that I spent 10 years in the field of education and counseling. I’ve taught many different subjects, mainly English and Social Studies, in both middle and high schools. I’ve worked as a mental health and drug/alcohol counselor for children and adults. I have served as a school counselor for both public schools and alternative school settings. I’ve been a babysitter, a cashier, a barista, a bartender, and a marching band staff member. I’ve been taking photos professionally [part-time] since I was 20 years old.
With the wide variety of work settings I’ve been in, the one skill I pride myself most on is the ability to stay calm in crisis and work under pressure. I find that wedding photography and teaching do have something in common: you can make or break the day in a split second. Teachers make thousands of decisions a day. Shooting a wedding, I find myself in a similar battlefield, loving every minute of the challenge.
I love to travel and camp. I’ve tent camped at the Great Sand Dunes!
I tend to assume positive intent in others.
I can recommend a good book, and a good show to watch.
Letting people down is my biggest fear.
Building this website was really hard, and I still don’t know if I’m including all the right things. Ask me anything you want to know that I may have missed.
