A common misconception

about portrait photography is that you need a fancy location. You don’t. You need a good photographer with a good camera. If you’re lucky, you’ll also want to manifest some great sunlight. Western Pennsylvania is famous for offering all-day overcast grey more often than I’d prefer. This day with this gorgeous family was a beautiful, bright sunny winter afternoon in my tiny side yard on a main road in Baldwin Township, Pittsburgh. It’s not rural, and the yard is not much to look at other than rows of pine trees.

Yet you can’t deny that these pictures are stunning. This shoot garnered so many compliments and DMs. I credit the Sleemans (the lovely family in these photos) for making my job easy with their good looks & love for each other.

If you’re local to my neighborhood and don’t have a specific public location in mind, or you simply love the idea of not being in public for an outdoor family shoot, my home is always an option.
